Especially how many "lead" guys are going to be there directing what needs to be done.
If you plan on making it out please respond.
Hate to see volunteers show up without any direction, if you are a "lead" and are showing up saturday please respond

The Draper trail day is on :D
BillD is grabbing the tools for Saturday morning at 830am. We are going to work just in the Black and Red skill/challenge sections of trails.
Meet at the big berm in the black( we plan to build a fence around this berm) Bring your style and balance and BUG Spray

I think the "speed bumps" you're referring to are probably the water diverters that a couple of very hard-working trail maintenance volunteers spent many, many hours building over the last few weeks to try and mitigate the trail erosion and silt pits that could definitely ruin the trail if left unchecked.

The diverters and channels cut in the sides of the trails help reroute the fine silt that would otherwise gather in the pits at the bottom of the hills making those sections of the trail absolutely miserable to ride. Don't know about everyone else, but I was getting my a** kicked in those sections and was having to get off and push far too often. It would only get worse without action. Just digging out the pits doesn't cut it.

Only complaints I've been hearing out at Draper recently have been about the sand (silt). It has to be controlled or we'll have a beach instead of singletrack.

As for people in other states knowing how to build a trail for MTBers, I suspect they probably aren't cursed with the very special soil we have in Central Oklahoma.

I, for one, would like to thank Henry, Bill, Ryan, Carl Wayne, James, Ward, Terry, and any others I haven't mentioned that have been working hard to keep Draper in riding shape.

Draper isn't a BMX track, not even close. I like seeing re-routes and fresh trail, I call it progression.

BTW, are the people who are incorporating the drainage "rollers" the same people who did the half assed parking lot addition?

I've deleted some insulting posts that were directed to another poster. I was going to lock the topic, but I've decided not to at this point. Maybe we can keep it friendly.

Discussion, debate and disagreement are interesting and useful. Insults and name-calling are neither. Please keep it civil folks. This topic will be locked if it happens again.

We have had the roller debate before and there will always be haters but Rollers are in fact showing up in other states. The roller is used in top 20 ranked trails in the USA, like the FATS trail system in Augusta South Carolina. The Roller or grade dip is your friend it helps with trail sustainability and makes yo a better rider. The roller gives a rider a chance to pump of the roller and accelerate down the trail with the upper body and give them legs a break and helps your bike handling skills when you actually ride somewhere other than Draper to pump over rocks and roots and boost up for a jump etc. I think the riders should get out of their comfort zone and push their bike handling skills and this is why we build log rides and jumps( gaps, stepdowns, tabletops) berms, and yes rollers. NuDraper is not a bmx track but has elements in the track if you know where to go that will build up your skill set- I mean how much of just good old xc can one take with out a little feature(spice of life) thrown in :D :D :D

btw;
if still have a problem with the vision and where we are taking NuDraper MTB park come on out and talk with BillD Or myself(James Perry) we will listen and explain our logic for what we are trying to accomplish out there.

we can always use trail help for the evil mission we have planed ;)

IMHO- to much (spice of life) thrown in, is why so many have quit working on trails.

That old dog Bill has been holding out on me and building a BMX track at Draper!? And here I thought him and several other were just out there giving up their own time to mow and scrape sand. All that fun stuff. I am with allmtrider, I would be seriously stoked to have a real BMX track somewhere nearby. Seriously though, going along with what HoneyHam posted, there is a reason for what is done and he provided a pretty good explanation. And I challenge anyone local to claim they have more knowledge and experience on all the great trails in the lower 48 than this guy.

I could post and actually started to post a response, justifying the items complained about here, but Jeff and James did a good job on this issue and I would be basically repeating what they stated. I also prefer face to face and around here it is hard to justify not doing that if you have real concerns. Not to mention most people tend to act more like humans and less like the south end of a north bound horse when they do not have a keyboard to hide behind. Shane and I meet up at Draper every Wednesday evening. Usually have a few others meet up with us for a relatively easy ride. Makes for a good time to discuss issues and shoot the bull. Generally followed up with chilling out in the parking lot afterwards and enjoying a cold refreshment before heading home. Fellowship, it sure beats being a drama queen on the internet. Lately we have been hanging out with the racer crowd following the weekly crit. Kind of a shady bunch, but they tend to grow on you after awhile. Maybe later this summer, we will move the ride to Bluff for awhile. Anyway, if you see me at the parking lot or out on the trail, give me a shout. I believe I am the only one in the OKC area that rides an orange Vassago Jabberwocky SS and an orange On-One Inbred 1X9, both set up rigid. Kind of hard to miss. I will make time to listen and although some might find it hard to believe, I promise not to get on my soapbox and rant. Sorry about that Tony.

If you really want to discuss something and not just rant on a forum, shoot me an email, give me a time and place, and we will go for a ride.

Please don't tell me I am going to be the only mtain biker at the Baptist children's road ride this coming Saturday morning at 7am. LOL. You guys can do this and then go to BC work day. Go for it. It's a charity ride too. Though, I am not sure how I am going to load my road bike at this time as I can't lift a lot yet with the right arm/sh and not sure how I will get the tires aired up yet I will worry about that come Saturday morning or late Friday night. I will think of the bunch at BC doing trail work while I am out riding. - Amy

I have not had a chance to see the new changes yet and may not be exactly what I want, but I'm gonna have a hard time complaining about it to the guys spending countless hours making Draper a great place to ride. Why does nobody complain about the sand removal or mowing? When a change is made to the trail like reroutes, berms, rollers and many other features they will not be perfect, this comes with time and traffic and even alittle tweaking.
Can we cancel the code blue?

@BrianU/allmtnryder. Check out the BMX track in Yukon, West side of town, North of Hwy 66 about a 1/4 mile, vicinity Garth Brooks, and HWY 66. It is pretty sweet!

I heard about it and might just have to go look at it sometime. I live between Choctaw and Harrah, so it makes for a long drive.

Come help out at the black loop at Draper! building bmx track/freeride style lines. Cut new trail and have another still to cut. Need volunteers to help put in some big hitters and sweet flowy jumps.
We all know nice trails take a lot of work so, be part of the problem, or the solution
